About Me

Where there are dreams, there are fears.

There are possibly as many varieties of approaches to writing an About Me page as there are bloggers. One is the Interview:

What is your name?

My name is Stefan Ignatyevich Protolupopov

That approach is fake, dull, and restrictive. It’s spending creative power on something useless, which is not really that exciting to read. This is a blog, not a newspaper. Most of us bloggers are not superstars, celebrities, people with great clout who are offered interviews because of how exciting we are or how much knowledge we possess. Let’s face the facts, most of the bloggers are ordinary, boring people. The Q&A format is a lie, and it forces out some artificial, uninteresting questions – unless the blogger is a master of this form. There are exceptions. Exceptions make the rule.

Another approach is the Biography/CV:

My name is Giana Fergus McDawdle, I was born on the 30th of April 1947 in the beautiul little town of Dumblepot…

You get the picture? Dull, dull, dull. We see these unimaginative shapes at work, we read them in applications, we’ve written them about us over and over, and always with dread. A blog entry is supposed to be exciting, not generic. It needs a fun factor.

So, unmistakably, we reach the Pseudo Fun:

Hey there sweets, wozup? I’m Destructor, I rock the guitar and I wanna be the next Pope of kickass rock & roll. Come closer, I don’t bite, I just scratch you with my razorsharp ten inch pink varnish nails. I SAID PINK VARNISH NAILS, COZ PINK IS MANLY, YOU KNOW IT B*****ES!!!…

Ummm, no.

With that in mind, I’m gonna add things about me slowly but steadily, so check in from time to time.
